One of the strangest and most confusing places you’ll ever go in Antigua is La Bodegona (aka: the grocery, houseware, school supply, and everything store). A few weeks ago we went to La Bodegona every single day and we have found some strange things and couldn’t find some things (LIKE SUGAR!!) Seriously, it took us a few trips to finally find it, and you’ll never guess where it was: not with the baking supplies, but next to the rice and beans of course!
And then another time, we couldn’t find the tin foil and of course it ended up to be next to the beans, rice, and sugar. So now when ever we can’t find something, we check in that section. We’ve also found some very strange things like refried beans in a package deal with cereal. But I think the weirdest combination is a coffee cup with a package of diapers (no joke).
One day my parents decided to torture me and assigned me to finding the tooth picks, so I went straight to the rice/beans/sugar section, I didn’t find tooth picks but I found some skewers in that section. I thought that was good enough but my dad said they needed to be shorter. In the end, I just gave up, but at least we know where to get skewers.

UPDATE: Someone just pointed us to this awesome Facebook Group: Shit Taped Together At The Bodegona. The best combo has to be a can of tuna taped to a large bottle of rum.
