A cerro is a hill, although it’s really more of a mountain in this case. Santo Domingo del Cerro is a hilltop restaurant and sculpture garden that is about 15 minutes up the hill from Antigua via free shuttle. There are many sculptures around the grounds, most by Efrain Recino, a prominent Guatemalan sculptor. There are great views of Antigua, but the day we were there was cloudy and rainy, so we’ll have to check that out another time.
The highlight of the day though, was the zip line! This was the first for all 4 of us.
We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant, including some fresh lemonade…

…and horchata (made of rice, milk, cinnamon and sugar).
The playground had a mini-zip line. And we had a little time to play before the skies opened up and it POURED! (thanks to a tropical depression off the coast of Guatemala).

Loved this tree with ferns and other plants growing right in the bark!
Waiting for the shuttle. It is pouring, though you can’t tell from the photo.

I love horchata! We did a zip line in Colombia, high above the coffee fields. It was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. Rum was had at the end. Hah!
